# Service categories

_Step by step to create categories that group your services and set the billing type._

> Organize your services into clear **categories** (e.g. Bath, Grooming, Aesthetics): it speeds up scheduling, makes the chatbot easier to navigate and improves category reports.

**Categories** group your services (e.g. Bath, Grooming, Aesthetics). Every service belongs to a category, and it's by them that the [calendar](/en/operacao/agenda/entender-a-agenda/), the chatbot and the reports organize the visits.

## The screen

Under **Settings → Registers → Categories**, pick the **segment** tab (Pet Shop, Clinic, Daycare/Hotel) and see the categories already created. Each has the **pencil** to edit and the **trash** to remove. Click **New Category** to create one.

## Step 1 — New Category

In the **New Category** form:
- **Category name*** — how it appears (e.g. *Bath*, *Aesthetics*);
- **Category type*** — the billing type the category belongs to (Bath, Grooming, etc.). The type influences grouping and report reading.

Click **Save**.

## Edit and remove

Use the **pencil** to rename or change a category's type, and the **trash** to remove it. When creating a [service](/en/configuracao/cadastros/criar-um-servico/), you pick its category — so create the categories before the services.
